From my perspective I can understand why my wife should not trust me ; my command is to love her as a husband and her command from God is to respect me as a husband. Honestly this is only a hope not an expectation but does the command no longer apply i.e. My unfaithfulness breaking vows canceled the command to respect me as a husband. I see no conditions in Ephesians or 1 Peter
